Dog Training -- There’s Something for Every Dog at PPP LLC!
Whether you’re a first-time puppy parent who’s just brought home an 8-week-old pup or you’re an experienced dog owner who’s just adopted a rough-around-the edges dog from a shelter, our puppy and dog training programs can help your pet get off on the right paw!
Perhaps your dog has developed some troubling problem behaviors (ranging from food-stealing to snapping at visitors, or anything in between)--certain members of our dog training team can even help with serious behavioral problem solving, including some cases of aggression.
At a Glance – Where should you start with your puppy or dog’s training?
NEW PUPPY-- In the best of all possible worlds, you should plan for all three of these:
One…Puppy Day School (all puppies 8 – 23 weeks old): This service is so much more than a traditional "dog daycare." This program truly is a drop-off socialization and training service. The window of easy socialization closes around the age of 12 weeks and the brains of young puppies soak in learning like a sponge, so the sooner you enroll your new puppy in Day School, the better the results you'll see!
Two…Puppy Perfect 6-week Group Course for the Whole Family: Sending your puppy to our Day School does not get you off the hook for training and socialization throughout daily life away from school! It gives your puppy lots of practice, taking a big chunk of the workload off your shoulders, but you still need to learn how to review the material we’ve taught your puppy when you’re home and out in the world, or you may end up with a puppy who behaves nicely at school—only. Your puppy’s progress will be much better and faster if you send your puppy to Day School and also participate in a Puppy Perfect group course.
Three…Private In-Home Lessons: There are certain things that can’t be effectively taught in the school environment. Is your puppy barking at sounds in your home? Do your puppy and children play inappropriately with one another? Does your puppy need extra coaching with walking nicely on leash in a specific environment? Has your puppy shown signs of anxiety or aggression away from school? Has your puppy discovered the joy of digging in your yard? Ask us about having one of our private dog training instructors work with you and your puppy right in the environment where the troubling behavior happens.
For more on early puppy socialization, including why it's not only safe, but necessary, please Google the AVSAB Position Statement on Puppy Socialization.
To accommodate our innovative Puppy Day School service and expanding curriculum, we have moved from the small area we had been renting from PDDC (formerly Pawwtopia’s Doggy Day Camp) in Arlington to a 3,600 square foot facility all our own.
ADOPTED DOG? – Contact US!
Some dogs older than 23 weeks may be approved to participate in our Day School drop-off dog training service. Some may get what they need from our group dog training courses for the whole family, including Doggy DoRight – Level 1, Doggy DoBetter – Level 2 and extracurricular courses and workshops like Dog Tricks Just for Fun. Others will need private dog training lessons at home or on “field trips” out in the real world. Many will need some combination of these three options. The best thing to do is to send an inquiry through this site, or call us at (617)966-4240 to let us know your situation so we can tailor the best program for your particular dog.
